MIFARE is a registered trademark owned by NXP B.V. MIFARE. Genuine MIFARE cards and products have a high level of security, interoperability, stability and reliability across all form factor options. The MIFARE product portfolio ranges from entry-level security to the highest security standards designed to offer seamless migration of first-generation systems.
How many NXP MIFARE card types are there?
The NXP MIFARE product range is broken down into six MIFARE categories. These are the main MIFARE cards from that range:
NXP MIFARE® DESFire®
MIFARE DESFire is one of the most recognised MIFARE cards on the market. This access control card can be used for identity, access control, loyalty and payment applications. Often seamlessly integrated, the MIFARE DESFire is a great fit for a reliable, interoperable and scalable contactless solution.
NXP MIFARE Classic®
The original MIFARE contactless smart card, the NXP MIFARE Classic is robust and easy to handle. For non-secure card requirements the MIFARE Classic is a great option. For more security-relevant applications, customers should look at the MIFARE® DESFire® and MIFARE Plus®.
MIFARE Ultralight®
The MIFARE Ultralight® is a low-cost, low memory chip card for high-volume applications such as public transport, loyalty cards and event ticketing. A great alternative to magnetic stripe cards and barcodes, the MIFARE Ultralight® is an ideal contactless ID Card for limited-use applications.
MIFARE Plus®
MIFARE Plus® is a great upgrade alternative from MIFARE Classic®. For contactless infrastructures looking to improve their security levels of in-place smart card applications. The MIFARE Plus® also boasts special features such as mobile and over-the-air top-ups.
