Single Sided ID Card Printers

A single sided ID card printer offers a great value solution for low volume plastic card printing. They are ideal for smaller businesses that require basic one side printing of their staff IDs and membership cards. We stock a wide range of single sided printers, including popular models from Matica, Magicard, HID Fargo, Zebra, Evolis and Datacard.

What are the best budget single-sided ID card printers?

Quite often we refer to budget ID card printers as ‘Entry Level’ Machines, single sided ID card printers are a perfect ID card printer for those new to ID card printing and requiring low volume plastic ID cards. Our favourite budget single-sided ID card printers include the Matica MC110 due to its scalable print capacity (1,000 monochrome cph), rewrite capability as standard in the latest release and dual side upgrade options. Our additional favourites are the Evolis Zenius, Zebra ZC100 and the Dascom 2300

Our budget single-sided ID card Printers are all Direct-to-Card (DTC) and print edge to edge (read our product guide on what this means). DTC card printers are also our most popular type of plastic card printer.

Which single sided ID card printers offer the best ID card print quality?

If you are looking for superior print quality, we would recommend a retransfer id card printer. The print process ensures you can print over-the-edge and on a wider range of materials; PVC, ABS, PET and polycarbonate.

Our single sided retransfer ID card printers  are popular with our customers looking for a card printer suitable for access control, government ID, driving licences etc.

Our bestselling Retransfer single sided ID card printers are the Matica XID 8300, and the Zebra ZXP 9 Series.

Can I upgrade my single sided ID card printer to a dual-sided ID card printer?

Simply... Yes. This is very dependent on what ID card printer you have. Some ID card printers (MC Series form Matica for example) have a ‘flipper’ built in and to convert from single-sided ID card printing to dual-sided. All that is required is an activation kit. However, some ID card printers do not have this and need to be either sent away to have a flipper installed, or this option is not available at all.

For example, the Javelin DNA Series has room for a flipper, however, the printer needs sending to a trusted installer for them to fit it.

What are the most common uses of single sided ID card printers?

Our most popular single-sided ID card printers are the direct-to-card (DTC) printers. These single-sided id card printers are ideal for low to mid-volume ID card issuance such as Company ID cards, Business cards, visitor cards, rewards cards and many more.

Secondly, our retransfer card printers are becoming increasingly popular with large corporate organisations, government applications and in some cases large event accreditation solutions, largely due to the print quality and optional encoding options.
